How to Make a PDF Small Enough to Email
Most email providers limit attachments to 25MB. Here's how to get your PDF under the limit without ruining its quality.
Common Email Attachment Limits
- Gmail: 25 MB per email
- Outlook/Hotmail: 20 MB per email
- Yahoo Mail: 25 MB per email
- Most business email systems: 10–25 MB (often lower)
Step 1: Compress the PDF
Use DocMind Compress PDF with "High" compression. This optimises all internal PDF streams and typically reduces file size by 20–60% for text-based documents.
Step 2: Split if Still Too Large
If the PDF is still too large after compression, split it into parts with DocMind Split PDF. Use "Every N Pages" mode to create equally sized chunks and send them in separate emails.
